Manufactured by Island Nutrition, Braino is an all natural nootropic stack claimed to promote:
- Memory
- Energy
- Brain Function
But how well does it really work?

Don’t get us wrong, there are some good ingredients in Braino that will help cognitive function – but there are some that won’t help at all.
Some of the nutrients used are ineffective, and others may even cause side effects.

The Ingredients

Choline
Found mostly in egg yolks, choline can help promote learning and overall cognitive performance.
However, for the best results we recommend using its branded form Citicholine.
It should still have some impact though.
Phosphatidylserine
One of the better nootropic options.
PS has four main benefits when it comes to brain boosting.
Long term use has been seen to promote mood, memory, focus and even reduce against cognitive decline.
It’s a great addition to Braino.
L-Tyrosine
An amino acid that promotes mood and motivation.
L-Tyrosine has been seen in numerous studies to help with the promotion of the happy hormones in your body.
It can boost serotonin and dopamine.
This could help you feel more relaxed, and with a calmer mindset.
Phenylalanine
A similar functioning nootropic to L-Tyrosine, but nowhere near as effective.
The main issue with nutrient is it’s absorption. Your body struggles to take it on.
After being consumed, it’s broken down too quickly to be absorbed properly. It doesn’t work when it’s taken orally.
DMAE
One of the poorer performing nootropics.
Originally thought to help against cognitive decline – the studies behind DMAE have shown otherwise.
Research has shown that this nutrient has very little effect when it comes to brain boosting – and may even cause side effects.
L-Carnitine
Not a good nootropic.
Used more often in fat burners and pre workouts, L-Carnitine has been seen to increase energy and metabolism.
Not only that, you need a lot for it to work.
Studies have shown you need 500 – 2500mg for it to have any real effect.
Taurine
Thought to promote energy, due to its use in energy drinks – however, that not how it work.
In reality, all this nutrient helps with is circulation.
This may help the ingredients in Braino travel round your system quicker – but in the grand scheme of things won’t make too much of a difference.
Ginkgo Biloba
Another poor nootropic.
Ginkgo Biloba has been thought to increase cognitive function – but the actual results behind it are mixed.
Research has shown that this nutrient may not be as effective as it’s marketed to be – with some researchers even suggesting that the effects may be purely placebo-based.
Green Tea
Used mainly for the L-Theanine in it – but the amounts are only trace.
If it was dosed properly, L-Theanine is known for promoting focus and by raising depressive hormones like GABA and Dopamine without causing fatigue.
Bacopa
One of the better nootropics on the market.
Bacopa has been seen to increase overall memory and focus.
It has also been seen to help combat overall cognitive decline.
There’s a lot of studies that support it.
Club Moss
A good choice, but it’s not the best.
Club moss has been reported to help with memory formation – however there’s not a lot of studies to support it.
It seems positive, but it’s not a reliable choice.
Vinpocetine
A better option.
Vinpocetine has been in numerous studies to promote overall memory.
From the periwinkle plant, it’s a great natural addition for anyone looking to promote brain health.
Quick Overview: On the whole, this isn’t the best stack on the market.
Although there are some good ingredients in this product – and even a host of vitamins, the main issue is that it can cause side effects.
Not only that, some of the ingredients seem under-dosed as well.
On the whole, it’s not what we could recommend for the price that it is at the moment ($78.00).
Side Effects
The main issue with this product has got to be the DMAE.
Not even an effective cognitive enhancer, DMAE has been linked to causing birth defects in expectant mothers.
And researchers think there may be even more side effects.
In our opinion we really wouldn’t recommend taking the risk.
Is there anything better out there than this Nootropic?
