What does Pure Mental Focus do?
Created by Purely Stacked, Pure Mental Focus is an all natural nootropic that is claimed to promote:
- Mental Focus
- Energy Levels
- Mood Stability
But how well does it actually work?
In this review, we look closer at Pure Mental Focus to see how effective it really is. This is what you need to know:
What you need to know about the Stack
Right off the bat:
It’s not great.
When it comes down to it there’s only one good ingredient in this nootropic stack that’s worth using: the L-Tyrosine.
The rest need a lot of work. Check it out:
Pure Mental Focus’s Ingredients
Don’t worry, we’ve summarized it all at the end.
L-Tyrosine
A good starting point.
L-Tyrosine is an anti-stress amino acid that can help calm your mind and increase focus.
It has also been seen to help reduce anxiety which can be useful in stressful situations.
L-Phenylalanine
A poor follow up.
Phenylalanine is thought to help release the happy hormones in the body which help promote mood.
Unfortunately, studies have shown that this amino is broken down to quickly after absorption.
It is not in an active state long enough to have an effect.
Taurine
Another amino acid – but this time for blood flow:
Taurine was thought to be an energy booster, due to its frequent appearance in stimulating drinks – but this turns out to not the case.
In fact, it helps mainly with blood flow. Which will help the nutrients get into your system faster.
Grape Seed
Similar to taurine, grape seed extract helps with blood flow.
It’ll help nutrients move faster throughout your system.
Potassium
Again, may help with blood flow.
This doesn’t make it help as a nootropic, but it does help with circulation.
It offers no cognitive benefit.
DMAE
A poor addition.
Thought to boost cognitive ability, and regularly used in beauty creams – there is actually no brain benefits for taking DMAE.
Although thought to help reduce cognitive decline, the results are unreliable at best. It’s definitely not what you’re looking for.
Not only that, several side effects have been reported with this nutrient.
More on that later.
Ginkgo Biloba
Another poor choice.
Originally thought to be an effective cognitive enhancer – the actual studies have shown differently.
With some mild, unreliable effects linked to Ginkgo Biloba, research suggests the only benefit may in fact be a placebo effect and that nutrient itself may actually make little to no difference.
CoQ10
Critical for producing energy in the body – so what happens when you supplement it?
The main effect from supplementing CoQ10 is raised blood flow – like numerous other ingredients in Pure Mental Focus.
It will not help with overall cognitive ability.
Quick Overview: As you can see, a lot of the ingredients in this product are not linked to cognitive enhancement.
In fact many have little effect at all, or just promote blood flow.
The L-Tyrosine seems to be the only good choice here, and the DMAE is a worry with the potential side effects.
Side Effects:
The main thing that you have to worry about is the DMAE.
Studies have shown that in expectant mothers, this nootropic can cause birth defects.
Not only that – there’s research that still needs to be done, meaning we don’t know the full extent of the side effects with this nutrient.
It’s definitely something to think about.
Is there anything better out there than this nootropic?
