What does Avanio Botanicals’ Brian Power do?

Brought to us by Avanio Botanicals, Brain Power is an all natural nootropic on the market that has been claimed to:

  • Promote Focus
  • Increase Mental Clarity
  • Enhance Memory

But how well does it really work?

In this review, we look closer at Brain Power’s ingredients, side effects and benefits to see just how effective it is.

This is what we’ve found:

What you need to know about Brain Power’s Stack:

brain-power-review

Right off the bat:

There’s a huge proprietary blend.

This is bad because it stops us from knowing how much of each ingredient is in the product.

Which stops us from knowing if it is effectively dosed.

There’s also a side effect risk. Here’s the full run-down.

Brain Power’s Ingredients

We’ve summarized the full list at the end:

brain-power-side-effects

Ginkgoxine (Ginkgo Biloba)

Originally thought to be an effective cognitive enhancer, studies have shown that this is not actually the case.

Ginkgo’s effects are little and will not supply you with any cognitive support.

St. John’s Wort

This however, is a different story.

St. John’s Wort has been seen to promote anti-depressive and anti-anxiety effects.

However, it has been linked to numerous side effects.

Glutamine

In this case L-Glutamine, in any case not that effective.

This amino acid has been seen to reduce sugar cravings in those who are deficient in the nutrient.

if you’re not deficient however – most people aren’t – it won’t have much of an effect at all.

Phosphatidylserine

One of the better nootropics out there.

Phosphatidylserine has been linked to promoting memory, mood and even fighting cognitive decline.

It’s all natural and a great addition to this blend.

Bacopa Monnier

Another good addition.

Bacopa has been seen to promote both memory and prevention against cognitive decline.

It’s great for strengthening the neurotransmitters in your brain for that extra edge over the competition.

Dimethylaminoethanol Bitartrate (DMAE)

Originally used in beauty creams, but was later used in nootropics.

DMAE was thought to help with cognitive decline when it first came into the supplement industry – but studies have shown, this isn’t actually the case.

It has very little effect on cognitive function, and won’t give you much benefit at all.

Acetyl-L Carnitine

A nutrient that has no effect as a nootropic.

L-Carnitine has been seen to promote both energy and metabolism when used in high enough doses (500 – 2500mg), however, it has no cognitive benefit.

It won’t do much here.

Vinpocetine

A better choice.

Vinpocetine has been linked to both increasing memory and learning ability.

It’s one of the better options on the nootropics market with some interesting studies supporting it.

Quick Overview: On the whole this is far from the best nutrient profile we’ve seen.

Although there are some good choices here. They are outweighed by the amount of ineffective ingredients in this product.

On top of that the proprietary massively diminishes the integrity of the product, making it hard to figure out how much of each ingredient you’re getting.

It’s not your best option.

Side Effects

Your main problem here is the St. John’s Wort.

Although effective in some cases, this is what you need to know about the side effects associated with it:

  • Restlessness
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Dry Mouth
  • Stomach Problems
  • Headaches
  • And more

After the positive effects have worn off, this is what you’re left with – and if you’re looking to sharpen your mind – this is definitely not what you need.

Aviano Botanicals Brain Power Review Conclusion

All in all, this isn’t the best nootropic on the market.

From this review, it’s clear that Brain Power isn’t the most suitable noot for you. Here’s why:

  • Proprietary Blend: We don’t know how much of each ingredient is being used, or how effective it will be overall.
  • Side Effects: St. John’s Wort has been linked to causing numerous side effects.

Overall, there are better options out there.
