Made by Cognito, this is an all natural nootropic that is claimed to promote:

But how well does it really work?

What you need to know about the Cognito Optimise nootropic stack:

It’s all proprietary blends.

If you’re not familiar with what a proprietary blend is – it’s hiding the individual dosages of ingredients, and bundling them together under one larger value.

This means you don’t know how much of each individual ingredient you’re getting – and by extension, you don’t know how effective it will be overall.

It damages the integrity of the product.

In addition, many of the ingredients used lack the necessary studies to support their claims.

The Ingredients

Don’t worry – we’ve summarised it all at the end.


Not a great start – and more of a workout nutrient than a brain booster.

Beetroot has been seen to help boost plasma nitrate in your blood stream. This may help to mildly improve blood flow, and nutrient absorption – but only to a minor extent.


This is a poorer choice.

Although L-Arginine has been seen to help increase overall levels of Nitric Oxide in the blood – it doesn’t do this when supplemented orally.

When ingested in a supplemented, L-Arginine is not absorbed enough to activate.

It looks good on paper, but it’s delivery method here in Cognito Optimise is flawed.

Ginkgo Biloba

Another bad choice.

Ginkgo Biloba is believed to have numerous benefits as a cognitive enhancer – but studies have shown otherwise.

Research has shown that Ginkgo Biloba produces very mixed results – it works for some people, and not for others. There are such stark differences that researchers now believe that the effects could be placebo.

It’s not a great option here.


An amino acid that may have some minor benefit – but is better for weight loss.

L-Carnitine has been seen in numerous studies to help promote energy and metabolism – it has also been seen to have some mild cognitive boosting abilities.

Studies have shown that for the best results you need between 500 – 2500mg for the best results.

The dosage in this proprietary blend is hidden – it’s unclear whether you’ll be getting the full dose required.


One of the better cognitive boosters on the market.

By being converted into the neurotransmitter Citicholine after absorption – choline is has been seen to promote learning and reduce anxiety.


An anti-stressor amino acid.

L-Tyrosine has been seen in numerous studies to help reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

This helps reduce overall stress, and promotes relaxation in your body. This allows you to become less distracted and allows you to focus more.


One of the better cognitive boosters out there.

L-Theanine is a great amino acid for boosting the calming hormones in your body.

By helping increase your body’s overall supply of serotonin and dopamine, it puts your mind in a much calmer state.

This elevates mood, increases focus and allows you to motivate yourself easier.

It also works synergistically with caffeine and may reduce the jitters associated with the stimulant.


Not a great option – mainly just because it’s only being used for the caffeine.

Caffeine is never a great option as a cognitive enhancer, due to the aftermath of using it.

The thing you have to remember about caffeine is that it’s a stimulant. Although it helps to boost energy levels and focus temporarily – the effects can wear off leaving you with an energy crash.

This can make you slower and more fatigued. It’s not your best option if you have a lot of work ahead of you for the day.


One of the better nootropics stack ingredients out there with numerous studies to support it.

Phosphatidylserine has four main benefits from being supplemented: boosting mood, memory, focus and helping to prevent cognitive decline.

It’s a solid addition to Cognito Optimise.

Green Tea

Used for its L-Theanine content – but there’s not enough here to make a real difference.

That said, Green Tea may help in other ways. Instead of cognitive performance, it may work better as a fat burner.

Packed with anti oxidants, the catechins in Green Tea, may help to promote norepinephrine – the fat burning hormone.

This may help your waistline – but not your focus.


Again, this is more of a supportive amino acid.

It doesn’t help with cognition, but it may help with blood and nutrient flow, which could help absorption.

Black Pepper

Not a cognitive booster – but Black Pepper is known to help promote absorption.

Quick Overview: As you can see, this isn’t the best nootropic stack you’ll find out there on the market.

The main issue is with those proprietary blends. How are you supposed to know how effective it will be, if they won’t disclose the dosages.

Some ingredients are good, others are ineffective – and none of them seem to cause side effects which is good.

This product could be improved with clear dosages and more core nutrients like Bacopa and Vinpocetine.

There are better options out there.

Although there are some ineffective ingredients – they’re not dangerous.

It’s highly unlikely that you’ll experience any side effects when using Cognito Optimise.
